This weekend Emilie's parents are coming over from luxembourg to visit. I like them :) although they scare me quite a bit. But hey ho :)
It's good times because it means that emilie gets to see her parents for a change, this doesnt happen very often outside of olidays, which to be fair is true for me too, but thats choice rather than a georphical difficulty. Anyway, it's good she'll get to see them. It's also good because for one week im going to get fed especially well at their expense and emilie an i will get access to the spa at the Apex hotel which i know from experience, is worth taking any day :D
My mum and step dad are coming up from glasgow on friday night to have dinner with us and emilies parents. Im a bit affraid about this to be honest. Mainly because of my step dad, he has the annoying quality of not speaking french very well but thinking he does, and then not fully appreciating when he is not being understood fully and so getting annoyed at simple responses to his questions (many of which are just plain inapropriate) At leaste dinners gonna taste fantastic, we're going to Table Table, which i know is great so good times :D neil is back in hospital for another opperation on friday though, which is a shame for him obviously, but it would have been good to have him there at dinner, we can have some good banter when we're both in an awkward situation.
On saturday the plan at the moment stands as, myself, emilie and her family road tripping down to edinburgh for the day :) we're gonna visit edinburgh castle, with i have actually never done before. Then in the afternoon im buggering off to meet the family and watch the rugby at murrayfield which promises to be a very atmospheric occassion if not entirely victorious. then back up the road for work at 11, then a road trip north the next morning :) funsies.
The only ranting point at this stage is my mum. Because my brother isn't going to the rugby, we had a spare ticket, so i asked for it to offer to a friend, i did so. Now however mum has gone ahead and offered it to someone else saying she might need neils ticket back which is a pain in tghe ass, because ive already got Sian sorted and excited about coming to see the rugby.
Anyway, life is good at the moment so very few complaints :)

money
i have none of it
last year i set a cap on my overdraft so that i couldnt get too much into debt without my parents knowing about it. The idea was that they would get furious if they found out one day i had thousands of pounds of debt, whereas if they know from month to month that i need cash then they're not gonna get too mad. It's working, however i do have to deal with the stress of being constantly skint, and facing the daunting prospect of asking my parents for more money.
LAst night i had a proper stress out. I'm out of money, more so than i thought i was. 3 bills had to be paid. It was grim.
Anyway, im alright now, dads sending cash (wasnt the most fun i ever had in a phone call) neil might be coming for the weekend. and the bills are paid. Ach well life goes on.

Weekend
twas a good one :)
was back in glasgow for the weeekend, playing a ceilidh for my brother. Idea was to raise money for a trip he's going away on in the summer out to indonesia.
Friday night we headed through to glasgow, had a lovely chinese with the parents, then i went to a ceilidh at glasgow uni union, was a great chance to talk to becca again, havent had a good chat with her in a long time. Good banter was had.
Saturday, we drove through to balfron to set up for the ceilidh at night. Emilie had a nap, i had a good chat with my dad, was too long since i'd had a good one. Had dinner, then went down to the hall to play the ceilidh.
The music was great :) I always love playing live with a band, and saturday was just fantastic because it was all done ad lib, making it up on the spot makes it so much more fun :)
sunday i made it back up to dundee with time to have some good fun with emilie and her flatmates. We made a fort :D and lasagna
a good weekend all in all :)

DPaC
Doctors, Patients and Communities
Always an interesting afternoon activity. The norm is 14 people all falling asleep around a table, trying to convince themselves that theyre learning/teaching something that wouldnt already occur to someone with a fully functioning mind.
This afternoon we were talking about ethical issues involved in different obscure scenarios we as doctors may come across. It was made better than most DPaC sessions by finishing 20 miutes early.
Squash tonight for the first time in months, looking forward to it :)

Late
Today the alarm on my phone didn't wake me up.
Which is annoying.
I woke up at Emilies alarm at 8:30am, feeling actually quite happy. I hadnt looked at the time yet, i was still cozy in bed, emilie was still asleep next to me, it was gonna be a good start to the day. I'd have time for breakfast before dissection, so i wouldnt have to spend money at the hospital. Life was good. Then i looked at the time, and instantly there goes the good mood. I should explain, the dissections start at 8:30 sharp, so you have to be there 5 minutes early, so even as i was waking up i was already 5 minutes late. Unamused. I didnt have time for a shower, breakfast, i was rushed, and not properly organised, which isnt my favourite way to start a day.
It all calmed down again in the dissection room. It was an easy dissection. We removed the skin from the thigh following the great saphanous vien down into the lower leg. It gave me time to calm down and do what im good at.
When i got out i had texts from emilie trying to calm me down. I like knowing she thinks of me when im stressing.
Anyway im calm now and my life is back in order, i still havent had a shower which is an issue, but oh well.
Dpac this afternoon, which is technically necessary, but in practice an utter and total waste of time, petrol and conciousness. but its compulsory so off we go to downfield. funsies.

Once upon a time i had a flatmate called steve, he hqad his heart torn out and replaced by a frayed and tattered hollow heart held together with cynicism and spite.
